Anonymous account from a firefighter at Grenfell Tower on the night of 14 June. Should be shared widely.

A firefighter deployed to fight the blaze at Grenfell Tower on the morning of 14 June has sent an anonymous letter to campaign group Save the UK Fire Service.
In it, they recount exactly what it was like on the day in question. And despite the hardened yet jovial exterior of fire service crews, these events affect them, their job is hard, and the Grenfell tragedy was harrowing.
This is something people may want to mention next time the media demonises firefighters for daring to object to the 1% pay cap imposed year after year. And this happens, as the writer says: “While MPs sit in Westminster drinking and eating in subsidised bars and restaurants… getting a 11% pay rise and increased pensions to go with it.”
The following account is only a small part of everything seen and done by the firefighters on 14 June at Grenfell Tower.
